Hungarian language school-leaving examinations among scouts organized by HSAE

The leaders of the Hungarian emigrant scout movement have ever seen their primary mission in 'patriotic education' of the youth, teaching and promoting the use of their mother tonque, knowledge of Hungarian history, folk and religious traditions. As they could rely on support, for some obvious reasons, neither from their native country nor the host one, Hungarian scout leaders and teachers have set up week-end schools, and published books on their own, have inbuilt some language skill and country knowledge tests in scout training, and have run succesfully for many decades a Hungarian language shool-leaving examination systhem in a good dozen of countries on four continents. The few pages documents here provide an insight into the practice of the later one. All in all from 1955 till 1984 more than 1000 Hungarian students managed to pass their school-leaving exams in the subjects of Hungarian language and literature, history, geography, etnography and the arts.
